Envelope budgeting means you assign every dollar of income to a specific category (or "envelope") before you spend it. This gives you a clear plan for your money each month. Unspent funds carry forward, so nothing goes to waste.

Not yet. PFM currently uses manual transaction entry and CSV imports. Bank syncing is planned for the Pro tier. Manual entry has its own benefit: it keeps you mindful of every transaction, which helps build better financial habits.

Yes. PFM supports CSV import, so you can bring in transaction data from most banks and finance apps. You can also export your PFM data anytime as a CSV file.

Absolutely. PFM uses encrypted connections, bcrypt password hashing, and optional two-factor authentication. Each user's data is completely isolated — no one else can see or access your financial information.

The Free plan will stay exactly as it is. Pro will add new features like bank syncing, advanced reports, and net worth tracking. Nothing you use today will be taken away or put behind a paywall.
